We believe that all young Israeli men and women who aspire to create and work in the field of film-making art and creation, have the right to fulfill themselves, regardless of their proximity to artistic hubs and access to resources. Our goal is to facilitate a true opportunity for youths from the geographical and cultural periphery to grow, develop and integrate into the Israeli cinematic art world.
The Looking Forward Foundation is a socio-educational project whose goal is to locate gifted, outstanding youths in the field of art from all over Israel. We bring together young men and women who come from a low socioeconomic background, immigrants from Ethiopia and the former USSR, students from boarding schools, hostels and rough neighborhoods - and work with them for an entire ten year course that begins at age 16 and ends at institutions of higher education. From there on, the road to the television, cinema and arts industries is wide open.
Looking Forward recruits the leading professionals in the movie and television industry to guide and educate the program participants. The foundation sees the bond between the leading professionals and the gifted youngsters as the significant upside in this effort.
The students attending the sessions at the activity centers know that they're expected to be serious and diligent. They well understand that this isn't just another after school activity - it's a long-term course of study, demanding and in-depth - a course which is its own reward. The outstanding students of each cohort are rewarded with scholarships to one of Israel's most prestigious schools of art, cinema and television such as Sam Spiegel, the Bezalel Academy, the Tel Aviv University Department of Film and Television, the School of Visual Theater and more, and are able to open doors to a world they never believed they could be part of.
