Shlomi was born in Be’er Sheva and grew up in Kiryat Yam. His movies, which he wrote and directed together with his sister, Ronit Elkabetz, have won huge acclaim from viewers and critics.
His movies include To "Take a Wife" (2005) – featured in the Venice Film Festival and winner of the Critics' Choice Movie Award, and "Shiva" (2008) – featured in the Cannes Film Festival. In 2011, Elkabetz directed the documentary film, "Testimony", which was also featured in the Venice Film Festival. His last movie, "Gett" (with Ronit Elkabetz), was awarded the Ophir Prize for best film in 2014 and he many other awards in festivals around the world.
